In order to install SDBD based on ADOxx 2.0UL1, please take the following download and installation instruction under consideration.
Depending on your operating system, please download the respective package and follow the installation instruction in detail.

Installation Guides
A. Installation prerequisites [Show details] The preparation phase represents all steps to be taken before executing any installation procedure on your PC. - Download the following package(s):

Extract the ZIP file at a location of your choice. The package consists of the all necessary installation files for running the tool on a Windows XP based system. The figure above shows the package content. In the following the location of extraction is referenced as <ADOXX_PACKAGE>. |
B. Database installation/preparation: [Show details] The database installation in a Windows XP based environment is based upon Microsoft's Database Engine 2000 (MSDE). The MSDE installation package is included in the package of the ADOxx based tool. Alternatively Microsoft's SQL Server Express Edition can be used - this requires to follow the steps as defined for the Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. ATTENTION: Using MSDE in a Windows Vista/Windows 7 environment is NOT possible and will result in corrupted installation. - Navigate to MSDE [Windows XP] folder:
The MSDE installation files can be found in the folder "<ADOXX_PACKAGE>\MSDE [Windows XP]"  - Adapt the database collation settings to correspond to your language and region settings [OPTIONAL]:
In case you have set a different language for "non-unicode programs" in your installation of Windows XP, please adapt the collation settings in the "setup.ini" file accordingly. Available collation IDs for MSDE can be found in the file "sql_collation.txt" in the folder or by clicking here. The non-unicode settings are available in the control panel (Control panel -> Region and Language Options -> Advanced). Please validate the settings and update collation if you want to enter other characters/language but Latin/English.  ATTENTION: The value entered in the screen above are representative only and will be as stated in the figure in most cases. To adapt the collation setting, update/change the value in "setup.ini" as shown below.  - Run database installation by double-clicking:
Run the installation of MSDE by double-clicking on "setup.exe" (<ADOXX_PACKAGE>\MSDE [Windows XP]\setup.exe). The installation procedure is without interaction of the user and completes without any message. |
C. ADOxx Installation [Show details] The installation of the ADOxx tool on a pre-configured MSDE/Windows XP system is triggered by double-clicking the "SDBD based on ADOxx 2.0 UL1 (English).msi" file of the extracted installation package ("<ADOXX_PACKAGE>\SDBD based on ADOxx 2.0 UL1 (English).msi"). IMPORTANT: an installation of InstallShield script engine needs to be available on the system. In case installation aborts with an error message related to InstallShield script engine, please install isscript.msi first (file location: "<ADOXX_PACKAGE>\isscript.msi" IMPORTANT: to run the installation, a valid database needs to be available. Please follow the steps above to install and configure the database BEFORE executing the tool installation. The related error message is shown below. - Trigger installation wizard by clicking on "Next"
 - Enter customer information:
 Enter user name and organisational information to proceed with the installation. Select whether ADOxx should be installed for anyone using this PC or only the current user. - Select setup options:
 Change the installation path if needed. The setup option (features and database installation checkbox) should not be changed. - Define default language:
 Select the default language and proceed with the installation by clicking on "Next" - Confirm and start installation of ADOxx:
 Click on "Install" to trigger the installation in accordance with settings defined. - Running installation procedure:
 The installation is executed. In a first step necessary files are copied, the tool is registered and finally the database is initialized.  The installation wizard provides continues updates on the progress of database initialization. - Database initialization completed:
 A success message completes the database initialisation. - Installation completed:
 A success message completes the installation wizard. The tool is available in the start menu in a program group called "ADOxx 2.0UL1 (English)". |

B. Database installation/preparation: [Show details] The database installation in a Windows Vista/Windows 7 based environment is based upon Microsoft's SQL Express 2005 Engine. The installation package is included in the package of the ADOxx based tool. Alternatively the database engine can be directly downloaded from Microsoft' website using the URL in the prerequesite section. HINT: The usage of the distributed package is recommended for issue tracking reasons. - Navigate to SQLExpress [Windows Vista, Windows 7] folder:
The SQL Express installation files can be found in the folder "<ADOXX_PACKAGE>\SQLExpress [Windows Vista, Windows 7]"  - Start the installation wizard:
Initiate the installation wizard by double clicking on "sqlexpress2005.exe" or "sqlexpress2008.exe" respectively. In the following the installation and configuration settings for Microsoft SQL Express 2005 are provided. In case you proceed with Microsoft SQL Express 2008, the settings are similiar, the look and feel of the installation wizard changed. - Accept license agreement:
 Accept the license agreement by marking the check box and select "Next" - Native client and support files:
 Install the Native Client and Support Files as a Basis for SQL Server Installation by clicking on "Install" - System configuration check:
 Following the installation a System Configuration Check is performed, analyzing the compatibility of your system with the installation requirements. Errors (preventing the installation, please cross-check with Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005 minimum requirements on http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/system-requirements.aspx) and warning are provided. - Registration information and advanced configuration:
 Provide registration information in the following screen and UNCHECK "Hide advanced configuration options". Unhiding the advanced options allows the configuration of the database instance to run ADOxx. - Feature selection:
 Accept the defaults on the feature selection screen. - Instance name:
 Make sure that the instance is installed as the "Default Instance". ADOxx in the standalone configuration can only connect to the Default Instance. - Service account name:
 Accept the defaults on the Service Account Screen - Authentification mode:
 Select "Mixed Mode" as the authentification mode for connecting to the instance. Enter a password of your choice for the "sa" user (during the tool installation this password needs to be entered to initialize the database). - Collation settings:
 Accept the defaults on the Collation Settings screen (this settings represent the "non-unicode" settings of your PC). - Installation procedure:
 Accept the defaults on the User Instance screen and trigger the installation process. Press "Finish" after successful installation. Your system is now ready for the installation of the ADOxx based tool |
C. ADOxx Installation [Show details] The installation of the ADOxx tool on a pre-configured system is triggered by double-clicking the "SDBD based on ADOxx 2.0 UL1 (English).msi" file of the extracted installation package ("<ADOXX_PACKAGE>\SDBD based on ADOxx 2.0 UL1 (English).msi").
